cpuTopBars — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 31, 2026

cpuTopBars is a Mac menu-bar app published by Halfmarble LLC (“halfmarble”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains how cpuTopBars handles your information. It covers the version from the Mac App Store and its TestFlight beta, and the version you build from its public source code.

The short version: cpuTopBars itself collects no data about you, and it makes no network requests. If you test a beta through TestFlight, or share analytics with app developers, Apple shares some information with us, as described below. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking in the app.

Data we collect

None through the app. cpuTopBars reads its readings (CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, memory, disk, battery, Wi-Fi and your running processes) from macOS on your Mac and shows them to you. It does not send them, or anything else, to us or to anyone. It does not track you across other apps or websites. What Apple may share with us is under “TestFlight” and “Analytics shared by Apple”.

Network

cpuTopBars makes no network requests. The network details in its Wi-Fi label, such as your IP address and router, are read from your Mac and shown only to you. Its links, such as “Support Team Fox”, open a page in your web browser only when you choose them.

Information stored on your Mac

Your settings are stored locally on your Mac by macOS. They never leave your Mac through cpuTopBars.

TestFlight

If you test a beta of cpuTopBars through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information (such as installs and sessions) and shares them with us, along with any feedback you choose to send. If we invited you by email, this information can carry your name and email address; if you joined through a public link, it does not. TestFlight is run by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We use this information only to fix and improve cpuTopBars, and we share it with no one.

Analytics shared by Apple

If you choose, in your Mac’s settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also share crash and usage data from the App Store version with us. We use it in the same way and share it with no one.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep the information Apple shares with us only while we need it to fix and improve cpuTopBars. To have yours deleted, email support@halfmarble.com: we will delete what we hold and tell you about anything we cannot remove. To stop sharing, stop testing the beta in the TestFlight app, or turn off sharing with app developers in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements. Your settings stay on your Mac; we never see them, and you can remove them yourself.

Third parties

cpuTopBars contains no third-party SDKs or frameworks: no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or social frameworks. No third-party partners receive any data from the app.

Children

cpuTopBars does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. The app itself collects no personal information from children (or adults); what Apple may share with us is described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
